A mother of a missing Manitoba man started a unique campaign to help find her son and others who have disappeared.

Lydia Daniels' 26-year-old son, Colten Pratt, has been missing since November, 2014, and she’s spent the last year trying to find him.

While there are lots of awareness campaigns for women who have vanished, including the red ribbon campaign for missing and murdered indigenous women, Daniels noticed that there’s nothing for missing men.

So she has started wrapping men's neckties on bridges in Long Plain First Nation, near Portage, Man., and around hydro poles in downtown Winnipeg.

So far, she and friends have helped place nearly 100 ties. She hopes they might help jog someone's memory about her son's disappearance.

"We chose the tie because we feel that it symbolizes the ties that bind us to our children, to our missing men, and it connects us to each other,” she said.

Daniels is still hopeful she’ll see her son again. This spring, new information surfaced that Pratt had been spotted at a bus shelter in Winnipeg the day after his disappearance.

She hopes others will hang ties for their missing loved ones. She's set up a Facebook group and is looking for donations of used ties to help continue the project.
