MOSCOW - Russia's emergency services say an explosion of natural gas in a five-story apartment building has killed four people, including a child.
The emergency services say the explosion before dawn on Tuesday in Yaroslavl, a city 250 kilometres northeast of Moscow, destroyed five apartments and damaged 20 others in the building. The number of people injured is unclear.
All residents of the building have been evacuated, a total of about 130 people.
The Interfax news agency quoted emergency services official Artyom Belousov as saying that the location of six people is still unknown.
Most apartment buildings in Russia are supplied with natural gas for cooking. The cause of Tuesday's explosion is under investigation.
