REDWATER, Alta. - Charges that include a count of murder have been laid in the case of an Alberta man who disappeared late last month.
Randy Lopushinsky, a 56-year-old resident of Redwater, was reported missing by his family on Jan. 26.
RCMP say Lopushinsky's body has been recovered and an autopsy by the Edmonton medical examiner's office is pending.
Mounties say Jon Irwin Ward, a 41-year-old resident of Thorhild, Alta., was arrested last Saturday and charged with second-degree murder.
Charges of accessory after the fact to murder and offering an indignity to human remains have been laid against a second man, Billy Joe Deren, who is from Rochester, Alta.
Deren, who is 36, will be in Redwater provincial court on Feb. 18, while Ward will appear in the same courtroom on Feb. 22.
