Police seeking rightful owner of mystery photos dating back to 1940s

An envelope containing dozens of family photos, seemingly dating back at least three generations, has Victoria police stumped.

Victoria police say the photos appear to date back to at least the 1940s and show candid glimpses of a family growing up.

"A lot of them are family shots, there are a couple of wedding photos, old family black-and-white photos," said Const. Matt Rutherford.

One series of pictures appears to follow a man chronicling his growth from a young man in his military uniform to celebrating a birthday as an older man.

One of the only clues police have to go on is a funeral document for a "William Herbert Switzer."

"We’re hoping that maybe he has relatives in town, or maybe grandchildren, and they dropped these photos in their travels through Centennial Square," Rutherford said.

The Victoria Police Department has posted all the photos here in the hopes of finding the rightful owner.
