Environment Canada forecasts up to 20 cm of snow for N.S., N.B.

HALIFAX - Environment Canada is forecasting heavy snow in parts of the Maritimes today that could create dangerous driving conditions, as well as other travel headaches.

The national weather forecaster says snow will begin falling on mainland Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick this morning and will continue into the evening.

Up to 20 centimetres is expected, with the snow becoming mixed at times with ice pellets.

Both Air Canada and WestJet are advising that the weather could affect flights to and from east coast destinations, and travellers should check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
