An MLB prospect is facing charges after he allegedly hit his girlfriend with rocks.

, on suspicion of aggravated assault after police say the 21-year-old got into a fight with a pizza parlour bartender before refusing to pay his bill.

That’s when he and a woman – believed to be his girlfriend – exited the store and began to argue, according to a report from the Arizona Republic.

Cops claim the situation escalated to the point where Rahier began throwing rocks at her.

One stone, estimated to be as large as 20 centimetres, reportedly struck the woman in the head, knocking her unconscious.

She was transported to hospital and received stitches. The woman confirmed to police she had been dating Rahier for four weeks, according to the Republic.

Rahier later denied throwing rocks at the woman and maintained he didn’t know her.

The police report also accused Rahier of fleeing the scene while being under the influence. He was apprehended a short time later.

He has since been released from custody.
